Digital Detox – those very words can send shivers down the spines of the most switched on social media addict. But, without going to extremes, you can have a small space in your home that you can retreat to in order to switch off and recharge your mind. Consider these simple ideas:
Dedicate one room or nook in your home to reconnecting rather than digital connecting. Some comfortable seating, books and side tables are a great start.
Make the kids’ playroom tech free if possible or limit television to only certain times of the day.
Keep the dining table only for family meals and conversation – no technology at the table to encourage conversation and connection.
Simply being outdoors is another easy way to be free from technology. Leave the phone inside and head outdoors for some fresh air.
A no screens policy in the bedroom helps with sleep cycles and restfulness for children and adults alike.
What are some ways you can think of to disconnect in your home to make more room for real connections with loved ones?
