Outdoor Rooms in Winter

In many parts of Australia we are lucky to experience mild temperatures right throughout the winter months. With plenty of warm sunshine about, getting outdoors is easier to do even during the coldest part of the year when you have an Outdoor Room. With just a few small adjustments, you can make the most of your outdoor space all year round.

  • Shelter - Protection from rain and cool winds is what is necessary in Winter, so if your outdoor room isn’t protected by walls invest in roll-down blinds. Removable café-style coverings that allow sunlight through are a great idea to keep the wind out whilst allowing the warmth to shine through. Up above, an adjustable pergola roof is handy for letting in light and warmth as well as keeping out any rain and wind too.
  • Heating - This is a must to coerce you outside on a cool day and with many options to choose from, you will be toasty warm. A gas patio heater, outdoor fireplace, Chimenea or even an infra-red heater are all great options for keeping the temperature comfortable outside. A fire pit is also a crowd-pleasing favourite for when entertaining, keeping everyone snug.
  • Decor - Keep the soft furnishings in the outdoor room cosy and inviting. An outdoor rug on the floor of a covered area will insulate the space well and prevent breezes from coming up from below. Keeping soft fluffy throws around to snuggle in and plump comfy cushions and pillows on your outdoor sofa, will no doubt see you making the most of your outdoor room more often than not.
